A Bunch Of Luau Ideas And Activities

Writen by Gail Leino

You've got a Luau party planned and are looking for some great ideas and activities so that the guests don't end up bored to death. Well there are lots of party ideas out there and here are just a few to get you started.

The Cocoanut Game is a little race that will leave guests tripping all over themselves. Have the contestant's line up in front of cocoanuts on the ground. They must all try to pick up a cocoanut with their knees and hold it between their legs as they waddle to a predetermined finish line. Anyone who drops their cocoanut must pick it back up in order to continue onward. The first to the finish line with their cocoanut is the winner.

For the couples there's the Blind Lei Me Game. Get all the couples in the party together and blind fold one of them while having the partners form a circle around the blindfolded players so no one wanders away from the party by accident. Each of the blindfolded players has a Lei and they must wander slowly around the inside of the circle feeling for their partner. Partners can't help by talking or giving a sign. When the player thinks they've found their partner they place their lei over the other persons head. When everyone has been Leid, tell the players to take off their blindfolds and see who they've just leid.

The Hawaiian Belly Hula Dance is a great and terribly funny game, but you need several guys with large bellies who are good sports to make it work. Have them take off their shirts and give them all grass skirts to wear and leis or headdresses to wear. Then you can be a sport too and lead them all in your own made up Belly Hula. Guests can observer and later vote on who Hula's the best.

A Wish List From Mom To Dad

Writen by Tammy Pinarbasi

Here is just a little wish list I put together for you. First, I feel I should tell you that I greatly appreciate all that you do for me and our family. Feel free to grant any or all of my wishes time permitting. They can be fulfilled in any order. I will gladly accept them on any given day. No need to wait for a special occasion or holiday to grant any of the following:

A thorough house cleaning preferably when the house is dirty. I will gladly show you where the cleaning supplies are kept and will provide a detailed list for you if needed.

A night out. Just about any activity will do. This would include everything from a simple picnic to a night on the town. Oh, I almost forgot, no kids. So you will need to arrange for a sitter.

A few diaper changes. For the baby of course, I'm past that stage. If you really want to impress me, you can change a few of the pooh pooh ones. That would be great!

An occasional morning to catch up on my beauty sleep. So I can remain the beautiful woman you adore. This can be arranged around your days off of work.

A night free of dinner duty and clean up. I trust you, so anything you decide to prepare will do just fine. I know you wouldn't even consider serving me a TV dinner. And don't worry about getting dish pan hands from the clean up. I use a wonderful dish soap that will moisturize your hands while doing dishes.

A couple of late night feedings would be nice. Not for me, I'm watching my weight. But, the baby is known to wake up a time or two hungry for a late night snack.

A bedtime round up. This would consist of rounding up all the munchkins and getting them tucked in their beds. Really its good exercise. All the repeated trips to the restroom and the kitchen for last minute drinks. A thank-you for a job well done. It really boosts my self esteem and shows me how much you appreciate all that I do. Now this was just a small list. Feel free to add anything to it or repeat any of my wishes. I will accept most graciously.

Love, Me

Environmentallyfriendly Earth Homes

Writen by C. Bailey-Lloyd

What are "Earth Homes?" Earth homes are houses that are basically constructed from the earth. Some earth homes are built from adobe, mud, straw or even underground as an earth-sheltered home. Environmentally friendly, earth homes are easy to warm and cool and extremely energy efficient.

Adobe Earth homes are houses constructed from bricks comprised of tightly compacted earth, clay and straw. Adobe earth homes can be naturally waterproofed by using fermented cactus juice!

Earth sheltered earth homes are houses the are constructed underground - or at least mostly beneath the ground surface. Surrounding soil is a superp and nautral insulation which makes these homes cheap to heat and cool. Usually installed in a well-drained hillside, earth sheltered homes have a skylight window that can fill the home with natural sunlight. Although costs may run a bit higher than conventional home construction, earth sheltered homes are a good, long-term investment as lowered maintenance and energy savings make up the difference.

Straw Bale earth homes are making a comeback as well. Straw bale earth homes are obviously constructed of straw and grass, are energy efficient, and can cut material building costs by as much as fifty percent.

Earth homes, such as Cob Houses are built from clay-type lumps of soil, sand and straw. Similar to the adobe homes, except cob earth homes do not use bricks or blocks. Cob homes have walls that are sculpted into smooth forms. Again, very energy efficient, cob homes are well-suited for the very cold climates and deserts.

Rammed earth homes may have over 18-inch, thick walls that are made from a comcination of dirt, sand, cement and water. Energy conservative, rammed earth homes have the appearance of bungalow-style charm and help keep the house warm in winter and cool in the summer. Additionally, rammed earth homes may last hundreds of years.

Why build an earth home? Earth homes conserve energy, and in most cases are easier to maintain and can endure for years to come. An excellent site to visit on earth homes: www.hobbithomes.ca This particular site even has a recipe for building your own "cob" earth home, as well as other projects.

As we embark on a strange, new age and global warming continuously on the rise, doesn't it make sense to construct your new custom home as an earth home?
